Crystal Red Shrimp are probably the most sought after shrimp in the shrimp keeping hobby. With their candy red and white stripes, they stand out magnificently in any aquarium or on all types of color substrates. Crystal Red Shrimp sells quickly for their high demand and resell price when breeding them out.
These Crystal Red Shrimp are A-S Grade, meaning red and white stripes throughout the body of the shrimp. The higher grades of Crystal Red Shrimp start to lose more red and become prominent white through their carapace; which can be more sensitive to water parameters. A-S Grade Crystal Red Shrimp are a good starter of Caridina Shrimp to get into with not being as sensitive. They also resale and are highly valued in the hobby if you are looking to sell or trade within the community.
RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS:
– PH level range: 6.2 to 6.8
– Temperature range: 70 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit
– Water type: Soft
– Recommended tank mates: Other types of dwarf shrimp (such as Blue Velvet shrimp, Sakura Fire Red Cherry Shrimp, Neon Yellow Shrimp, etc.), various types of snails (such as Nerite Snails, Sulawesi Snails, etc.). They can also be kept with small to medium-sized, non-aggressive fish.
– Additional notes: A bit more difficult to care for than other dwarf shrimp types – we recommend sticking VERY closely to the recommended tank parameters. Dwarf shrimp prefer to live in tanks with live aquatic plants (such as java moss, green cabomba, etc.). This is because dwarf shrimp like the cover that plants provide, they love to graze on the plants for algae, and the plants help keep the water clean for them.
Needs water with 7.2 ph or lower, and they do not do well in hard water.
These shrimp can live and breed in almost any freshwater aquarium.
The colony of shrimp work as a very effective cleaning crew for your tanks, cleaning up algae and waste!
